Rememberly is a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

All content you create in the App, including book titles, authors, quotes, page numbers, and personal notes, is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this data, and it is not transmitted to our servers.

Camera and Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your device's camera so you can capture images of book pages for on-device text recognition (OCR). Images are processed locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework.

The App may also request access to your photo library so you can select an existing image for OCR and so the camera screen can show a small preview of your most recent photo as a shortcut to the photo picker. Photos and images used for OCR are processed locally on your device. We do not store, upload, or transmit your photos or images to our servers.

Book Search Queries

When you search for a book within the App, the search terms you enter are sent to the Open Library API (openlibrary.org), a free and open public service operated by the Internet Archive. This is used to retrieve book titles, authors, and cover images. We do not control the Open Library service and recommend reviewing its privacy policy at https://openlibrary.org/privacy.

Feedback and Support

If you choose to share feedback through the App, the App opens a Google Forms feedback form. Any information you choose to submit through that form may be processed by Google and by us for the purpose of reviewing feedback and improving the App. Feedback is optional.

If you contact us by email, we will receive the information you choose to include in your email, such as your email address and message content. We use this information only to respond to your request and provide support.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not require you to create an account.
We do not require you to provide personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the App.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking tools of any kind.
We do not collect device identifiers or location data.
We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies in the App.
We do not display advertisements or use advertising SDKs.

How We Use Information

Locally stored content, such as books, quotes, page numbers, and notes, is used solely to provide the App's core functionality on your device.
Camera and photo library access is used to capture or select images for on-device OCR and to display a recent-photo shortcut in the camera screen.
Book search queries are sent to the Open Library API only to return book search results and cover images within the App.
Optional feedback and support messages are used to respond to you, troubleshoot issues, and improve the App.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for advertising or tracking.

The App communicates with the following third-party services:

Open Library, operated by the Internet Archive, for book search results and cover images. Only the search terms you enter are sent for this purpose.
Google Forms, if you choose to submit feedback through the feedback form.
Your email provider, if you choose to contact us by email.

These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs.

Data Storage and Security

All user-created content is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers or databases that store your App content.

Book cover images retrieved from Open Library may be cached locally on your device to improve performance. Cached cover images are stored on your device and may be removed by the App or the operating system over time.

The security of your data depends on the security of your device and any device-level protections you have enabled, such as a passcode or biometric authentication.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since App content is stored locally on your device, you have control over it. You can delete individual books or quotes within the App, or delete all App data by uninstalling the App from your device.

If you contact us by email or submit optional feedback, we may retain that communication as needed to respond to you, provide support, and improve the App, unless you ask us to delete it where applicable.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The App does not require an account or personal information to use. If you believe a child has provided personal information through optional feedback or support contact, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
