Rememberly is a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

All content you create in the App — including book titles, authors, quotes, page numbers, and personal notes — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers.

Camera and Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely to capture images of book pages for on-device text recognition (OCR). Images are processed locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework. We do not store, upload, or transmit any photos or images to external servers.

Book Search Queries

When you search for a book within the App, your search query is sent to the Open Library API (openlibrary.org), a free and open public service operated by the Internet Archive. This is used to retrieve book titles, authors, and cover images. We do not control the Open Library service and recommend reviewing their privacy policy at openlibrary.org/privacy.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
  • We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking tools of any kind.
  • We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.
  • We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
  • We do not display advertisements or use advertising SDKs.

How We Use Information

  • Locally stored content (books, quotes, notes) is used solely to provide the App's core functionality to you on your device.
  • Camera/photo access is used exclusively for on-device OCR to extract text from images of book pages.
  • Search queries are sent to the Open Library API only to return book search results and cover images within the App.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with any third parties.

The only external service the App communicates with is the Open Library API (operated by the Internet Archive) for the purpose of searching for books and retrieving cover images. No personal data is sent to this service — only the search terms you enter.

Data Storage and Security

All user-created content is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers or databases that store your data. The security of your data depends on the security of your device and any device-level protections you have enabled (such as a passcode or biometric authentication).

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete individual books or quotes within the App, or delete all App data by uninstalling the App from your device.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, it is suitable for users of all ages.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
